Direct Support Professional Week

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf signed an official proclamation declaring September 11-17 as Direct Support Professional Recognition Week.

This week is to honor the important work and vital contributions of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to address physical and mental health needs of individuals with disabilities, veterans and senior citizens in their communities.

The request was initiated by Pennsylvania Advocacy and Resources for Autism and Intellectual Disability to honor the work of their 50,000+ workforce in supporting individuals with Intellectual Disability and Autism, and to celebrate and generate awareness of all DSPs that make countless contributions to positively impacting lives across the state.

Throughout the week, Public Health Management Corporation (PHMC) is pleased to highlight the stories of our Community Health Workers (CHWs) and local organizations making an impact in Pennsylvania communities through the My Vaccine Counts COVID-19 CHW Initiative.
